Mist
Pump-free ultrasonic aeroponics
Traditional systems push water with pumps, plumbing, and spray nozzles that clog and fail. SkyAcres does none of that. A thick felt sorbent pad wicks nutrient solution upward by capillary action. A piezoelectric atomizer, pressed against the felt, vibrates at high frequency and turns the solution on the felt surface into an ultrafine, nutrient-rich mist. The mist settles on bare roots in the ideal form for uptake. No pumps. No tubing. No plumbing. Each misting assembly carries three atomizers, and two assemblies sit in every growing box, angled so the mist reaches the whole root zone.

Capillary action and thermal isolation
Two quiet ideas make the system reliable. First, capillary action does the work a pump would normally do: the felt wicks solution upward continuously, so there is nothing to prime, clog, or burn out. Second, the felt is thermally non-conductive, so the heat from the atomizer stays out of the reservoir. The nutrient solution stays cool and oxygen-rich, which is exactly what roots want.

The hybrid root zone
SkyAcres is a hybrid of hydroponics and aeroponics. At the bottom of the box, roots reach the nutrient solution directly, like hydroponics. At the top, new root growth develops in open air and ultrafine mist, like aeroponics, where roots get the oxygen they cannot get when submerged. This split gives the plant the best of both, and it makes the system resilient: if power or equipment ever drops out, the roots sitting in solution keep the plant alive while things recover.

SkyBoard: a growing computer on every rack
Every rack carries its own growing computer, the SkyBoard, plus a set of small boards that connect the misting devices and lights. The SkyBoard decides the misting cycle and the light cycle based on the crop, its growth stage, and conditions in the room, then reports back to the SkyAcres cloud. It runs the electronics of the whole rack so the grower does not have to babysit it.

Computer vision and AI on every rack
A camera on every rack watches the plants. SkyAcres computer vision scouts for pests, counts beneficial insects, and decides when to act, the same way at one rack or a thousand. It is the difference between a grow room that needs an expert walking the aisles and one that runs itself.

Beneficial insects, released automatically
SkyAcres protects crops with beneficial insects, not sprays. Predators like ladybugs, lacewings, and aphidoletes handle pests naturally, and the system releases them automatically the moment the cameras spot a problem. It is a clean, hands-off loop that scales: no chemical residue, no spraying schedule, the same protection whether you run one rack or a whole facility.
Light
Adaptive lighting
Light is tuned to the crop. Leafy greens and herbs get a blue-forward spectrum for vegetative growth; fruiting crops like tomatoes and peppers get a red-forward spectrum for flowering and yield. The LED bars hang on adjustable ratchet hangers and are interchangeable, so when you change crops you can change the light to match. The SkyBoard runs the light cycle automatically.

Automatic nutrient dosing
Feeding is automated too. A robotic doser mixes and delivers nutrients on schedule, so the solution stays dialed in without manual measuring. With the doser in place, the system needs fewer sensors and less fiddling, and the plants get a consistent feed from seedling to harvest.

The modular growing module
The hardware is a 3-level growing module on wheels, about six feet tall, with three growing boxes that double as reservoirs. It rolls into a barn, cold storage room, warehouse, or packhouse, plugs into a standard wall outlet, fills with water, and grows. No permanent retrofit. Each module has a small footprint, and levels adapt to the crop: three levels for basil, two for peppers, one for large vining tomatoes.

The same system grows more than sixty crops, from basil, mint, and leafy greens to saffron, strawberries, and edible flowers. Because the lids, lighting, and settings adapt, a grower can switch crops with the season or the market without buying new equipment.
